    Description

RARE VASELINE GLASS OPALESCENT OPALINE BROCADE SPANISH LACE MINIATURE LAMP EAPG
A beautiful antique hand-made American-made colored pattern glass (EAPG) Gone With The Wind style miniature lamp.
It was made by the Northwood Glass Company.
    This
pattern was introduced by Northwood in late 1898 or early 1899.
The decorative opalescent pattern is Northwood’s “Opaline Brocade”, commonly known to collectors today as “Spanish Lace”.
The glass color is a vaseline or canary opalescent and it glows an intense lemon-yellow color under a black-light.
The lamp consists of 4 primary pieces, the base or bottom, the metal burner assembly (which is mounted to the base), the clear glass chimney and the top or globe.
The metal burner is brass plated metal.
This piece has been in my personal collection since 2000.
I was unable to find this lamp pictured in any of the books I own.
I found only a reference to this piece as having been made on page 45 in the book
Encyclopedia of Victorian Colored Pattern Glass Book II Opalescent Glass from A to Z
    by William Heacock.
The only makings I can see on the lamp are on the round wheel or dial on the burner’ this reads “P & A M’F’G CO”.
The lamp has great color and a nice strike of opalescence and is gorgeous as you can see from the photos!
I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability.
Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color.
However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures.
I will get back to you as soon as I am able.
I want your transaction with me to be exactly the way I want mine to be when I am the buyer.

    Age and Condition
This piece dates to circa 1900.
It is in very good to excellent condition.
Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item.
There is one small shallow flake to the underneath inside edge of the bottom rim of the globe.
There is also some very minor roughness to the inside edge of the top rim and also to the bottom rim of the globe, but in my opinion, this is from the factory grinding and not any form of damage.
There are some tiny flea bites to the bottom rim of the chimney (these may be from factory grinding as well) and the chimney does not sit level.
There is tarnish to the metal burner apparatus.
I do see some tiny stones in the glass, but these are from the making of the glass and not damage.
Otherwise, there are no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines or repairs.
I see no cloudiness or discoloration to the glass.
I see some light signs of wear to the underside of the foot as I would expect to see on a 115-year-old piece of glass.
I am uncertain if the chimney is original to the lamp.
There is also a woven cloth wick in the burner and I am uncertain if this is original to the lamp either.
Please keep in mind the photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times larger in the photos than it really is.
Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece.
It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo.
    Approximate Dimensions
The piece is about 3.5” (8.9 cm) in diameter at its widest and sits about 8” (20.3) off the table at the top of the chimney.
    Approximate Weight
    About 13.625 ounces (386 grams).
    SALES TAX
I am required to charge 6.5% Ohio State Sales Tax on all purchases shipped to an address within the State of Ohio.
